CBSE Worksheet-01
Class - IV Mathematics – Multiplication

Solution

  1. Fill in the blanks with suitable words:

    1. Rs. 825,  55 × 15 = 825.

    2. 8 Count the number of times 4 added.
      4 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 + 4 = 32
      × 8 = 32

    3. 0
      The product of 4 × 2 × 0 × 1 is 0

    4. 3500grams.
      Explanation: 1kg = 1000grams. 3kg = 3 × 1000 = 3000.
      3000 + 500 = 3500grams.

    5. 9,
      27000÷3000 = 9. Here 27 is the multiple of 3.

  2. State whether each of the following statement is True or False:

    1. True.
The distributive property of multiplication states that the number can be broken into smaller numbers for calculating.
      400 × 50 × 2 = 400 × 100 = 40000
      and 100 × 4 × 25 × 4 = 400 × 100 = 40000

    2. True
When two odd numbers are multiplied the product is always an odd number.
      Eg. 695 × 837 =  581715

    3. False.
The commutative property of multiplication states that the product of multiplication does not change when we change the order of the numbers. For eg: 365 × 160 × 25 is same as 160 × 25 × 365.

    4. True, 300 ÷ 5= 60. 60 × 5=300

    5. True,
A number sentence is true if the two sides are equal.
      Left hand side = 8 × 6 = 48
      Right hand side = 12 × 4 = 48.
      Hence 8 × 6 = 12 × 4

  3. (c) 4 × 54
Explanation: Three times of a number is 54.
    12 times of a number = 4 × 3 times of a number.
    = 4 × 54.
  4. (d)   700 ×   9 +  50 ×   9
    Explanation: (700 + 50) × 9
    700 × 9 + 50 × 9.
  5. (a) 59
Explanation: The solution of this problem can be easily found by using the DIVISION ALGORITHM.
It says that Dividend = ( Divisor x Quotient ) + Remainder. In this problem, quotient will be 4, divisor will be 14 and the remainder will be 3. We just have to find the dividend.
    Therefore, Dividend = ( 14 x 4 ) + 3 = 56 + 3 = 59 toffees.
  6. (c) 216 people
Explanation: Total number of vans = 18
No. of people each van can accommdate = 12
    Total number of people in 18 vans = 18 x 12 = 216
  7. (d) 150
    Explanation:
No. of students in 1 bus = 48
    No. of children in 3 buses = 48 x 3 = 144. 144 is nearer to 150. So the answer is 150.
  8. (a) - iii (b) - i (c) - iv, (d) - ii.

  9. Rice consumption everyday = 450 gm
As, we know that, 1 week = 7 days
    Then, rice consumption in a week = 450 × 7 = 3150
So, the man eats 3150 g of rice in a week.

  10. Number of pages in one book = 325 Pages
    Number of pages in 65 books = 325 × 65
Total number of pages in 65 books = 21125 pages.

    1. Pomegranate is the costliest fruit with 180 per kg.
    2. Cost of 1 kg grapes = Rs 100
rate of 1 kg banana = Rs 90
      then, cost of 2 kg bananas = Rs 90 × 2 = Rs 180
      So, total money she pay = 180 + 100 = Rs 280
  11. 130 boxes of teddy bears
and 225 boxes of toy cars
    1 box = 36 toys
    then, number of teddy bears in 130 boxes = 130 × 36 = 4680 teddy bears
    and, number of toy cars in 225 boxes = 225 × 36 = 8100 toy cars
    total toys bought = 8100 + 4680 = 12780
    then, the cost of toys = 12780 × 45 = Rs 5,75,100

  12. Monthly fee of student = Rs 530
there are 28 students in a class
    then, students in school = 28 × 12 = 336 students
    now, fee collected from a class = 28 × 530 = Rs 14,840
    again, fee collected from school = 14840 × 12 = Rs 1,78,080

    1. 1324 × 600 = 794400
    2. 5678 × 10 = 56780
    3. 6387 × 400 = 2554800
    4. 946  × 300 = 283800
    5. 649 × 100 = 64900
    6. 5678 × 10 = 56780
    7. 2405 × 1000 = 2405000
    8. 1482 × 200 = 296400
  13. A school organized a stage show. If 450 people came to saw the show. Then,

    1. Cost of one ticket = Rs 85
there are 450 people who came to watch the show
      then, total amount school made = 450 × 85 = Rs 38,250
    2. Paid refreshment = Rs 150
      then, total amount school made by refreshment = 450 × 150 = Rs 67,500
So, the total amount made by school during the event = 67,500 + 38,250 = Rs 1,05,750
  14. A printing company has 6 printing machines.

    1. Cost of Each printing machine = Rs 4,500
      then, the cost of 6 printing machines = 4500 × 6 = Rs 27,000
    2. maintenance cost of 1 machine = Rs 550
      then, the maintenance cost of 6 machines = 550 × 6 = Rs 3,300
    3. printing machine print 450 pages in 1 hour
      as we know 1 day = 24 hours and 1 week = 7 days
      then, number of pages print in 1 day = 450 × 24 = 10,800 pages
      now, number of pages print in 7 days = 10800 × 7 = 75,600 pages
